Century XVI / XVIII
The Old Church, as it is known by the parishioners, over the centuries was the Mother Church of the parish of Mar. Part of the “Old Church” was built in the second half of the 1500s. It was later expanded, in the 18th century, due to the growth of the population of the parish.
The use of the materials of the previous temple can be seen in some of the stonework existing in the outer walls, namely the bell arches.
A temple with a single nave and simple frontispiece, framed by two false pilasters and bell tower attached to the south side. It has a squared doorway, topped by a cruciform window with polylobe-shaped arms with a smooth triangular tympanum, with a cross on an acroterium. Two bell arches and a bell compose the bell tower.
Inside, the gilded woodwork and the high altar are flanked by the image of the patron saint, St. Bartholomew, and by St. Benedict.
