Museum of the Voluntary Firefighters of Esposende

Century XX
Founded in 1986 as a museum of the Firefighters, installed in a room at the time of the inauguration of the present headquarters (May 25, 1986). Its objective was to preserve and present the memory of the activities of the Humanitarian Association of the Volunteer Firefighters of Esposende and its Fire Brigade.
The original museological centre was installed on the ground floor, being moved to the 1st floor of the Museum in 2018. This is where the history of the Esposende Voluntary Firefighters has been recounted, since 1891, the year the Fire Brigade was founded. The Fire Corps have a far-reaching activity, covering the areas of Fire, Emergency, Maritime Rescue and Health. Its collection includes objects donated by the relatives of firefighters, which embody rescue tales since 1917. It is also worth mentioning the rare “Chevrolet Ambulance” of 1951.
